Due to the hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy, women who have never had problems with acne before may start noticing breakouts on their face and other parts of their body. Stress has also been known to cause those who are prone to acne flare-ups to breakout suddenly. This type of acne is more common in adults than in teenagers, although can be experience by both. If your acne seems to be worsened by stress, talk to your doctor, who can help you learn how to better handle stress, and possible give you a prescription medicine as well.

If you do have an acne flare-up going on, don’t be tempted to squeeze or otherwise mess with the pimple or blackhead. That can lead to even more acne, as well as cause scarring.

There are many over the counter treatments for acne, but it will be a trial and error process to find the one that will work the best for you. If you don’t have any luck with daily cleansing and over the counter medications, then you may need to talk to your doctor or dermatologist for more aggressive treatment options.
